Mrs. E. Jean Gates wife of the late William Gates of Miramichi Senior Citizens Home, formerly of Edward Street, Miramichi, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2017, at the age of 85.
Born in Douglas NB, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Irma (Brewer) Haines. She was a retired R.N. at Tabusintac Nursing Home and Addiction Services Miramichi Hospital. She was a member of St. James & St. John United Church, member of the Education Council-Sunday School Teacher and she also was a social bridge player.
She is survived by two daughters, Kim Lehnert (Tom) of Miramichi and Cynthia Russell (Todd) of Miramichi, two sons, Bill (Adrienne) of Rothesay and Allan (Donna) of Quispamsis, one brother, Ronald Haines of Estey Bridge, eight grandchildren, Ashley Carroll (Jason), Marley Matchett (Nathan), Sarah Lehnert, Colleen Lehnert, Robby Lehnert (Crystal), Bridget Gates, Owen Gates and Sam Gates, two great grandchildren Mason and Mia Matchett.
Besides her parents and her husband she was predeceased by one daughter Susan and one brother Keith Haines.
Mrs. E. Jean Gates is resting at Davidson’s Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, Miramichi, with visitation on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. James & St. John United Church, with Reverend Alice Szemok officiating. Burial will be in the family plot of Miramichi Cemetery later in the spring.Please note: Members of Miramichi Senior and retired nurses are asked to assemble Monday morning at 10:30 at St James & St John United Church to form an honor guard.
