Shirley J. (Lebans) Dunphy of Patience St, Fredericton NB passed away at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Thursday May 9, 2019.
She was the daughter of the late Eldridge and Mamie (Sturgeon) Lebans of Barnettville, NB.
She was predeceased by her husband Alvin M. Dunphy in 1954 and her brother Franklin M. Lebans in 2003, her brother in law Arthur Dunphy in 2014, sister in law Dorothy Dunphy in 2018 and sister in law Lorraine Lebans in 2008.
Shirley graduated from the Moncton Hospital School of Nursing in 1948.
She worked in NB Hospitals and the Ottawa Civic Hospital before entering the field of Public Health Nursing with the NB Department of Health and Community Services from 1955-1987.
A graduate in Public Health Nursing from Dalhousie University School of Nursing.
Also a graduate in Public Health Nursing (Teaching and Administration) from Toronto University.
Obtained a B.Sc Nursing from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax.
She held several Administrative positions in Public Health Nursing and worked toward improving health care both Provincially and Nationally through her involvement in many health related associations and committees, particularly through her employment with the Province of NB coordinating and leading the development of the standard criteria for accreditation for all licensed Nursing Homes.
She is survived by a number of beloved Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
There will be visitation from 12 pm until the time of her funeral service at 2 pm at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Blackville on Monday May 13th, 2019, with Reverend Gerry Laskey officiating.
There will be a reception in the church, following the service.
Interment will take place in the church cemetery.
