Alvin Wilfred Bell of Millerton, NB, husband of Donna (Hambrook) Bell, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 78.
Born in Derby, NB, he was the son of the late Mary (Tozer) and Russell Bell.
Besides his wife Donna, Alvin is survived by one daughter, Brenda Norton (Ross); two sons, Bradley Bell and Donald Bell (Jane); two grandchildren, Keltie Leger (Luc) and Kyle Norton (Deanna); three great-granddaughters, Alexa Leger, Elliot Leger and Emerson Norton; one sister, Marie Jardine (the late Sydney); two brothers in Law, Paul McAllister and David Hambrook; two sisters in law, Kathryn Hay (Daryl) and Sue Keating (David); and several nieces and nephews.
Alvin is predeceased by both his parents, his infant daughter Pamela, and his sister Sylvia McAllister.
A former member of the Royal Canadian Artillery, Alvin spent time in Shilo and Gagetown.
He later worked for Whalen Construction and Syd Jardine Plumbing, and eventually retired as the owner of Northern Service Station Repair Ltd.
Aside from tormenting his family and friends, Alvin loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, going to his camp, 4-wheeling, smelt fries, and Estey’s Fish and Chips.
Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, NB, on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
The Funeral service will be held from The Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, NB, on Wednesday, May 15th, 2019, at 11 AM with Wendell Gregan officiating.
Burial will be held in the Derby United Church Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy in Alvin’s memory (in lieu of flowers), donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Extra-Mural Program.
