Irving Malcolm Sturgeon

June 22, 1955-February 2, 2020

The Sturgeon family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Irving Malcolm Sturgeon on Sunday, February 2, 2020, surrounded by his family at Dr Losier Hall, at the age of 64.

Born in White Rapids NB, he was the son of the late Kenneth Sturgeon and Reta Sturgeon of White Rapids, NB.

Irving loved life and adventure! He joined the workforce early, as a truck driver and mechanic. He worked for a number of years before gaining employment with Repap/UPM, where he worked until its closure in 2007. He then, went on to pursue a dream of owning his own car dealership in Miramichi, known as Power Deals. A few years later, he and his wife took on a new adventure that led them to Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, where they stayed until retirement and returned home to NB.

Irving had a passion for travelling, old cars and riding his motorcycle. However, his greatest moments were spent with his much loved wife, children, and his precious granddaughters. He will be greatly missed!

Besides his wife, Joan, he is survived by his mother, Reta Sturgeon of White Rapids, NB; Mother in Law, Elsie Bryenton of Miramichi, NB; Daughters: Natasha Black (Derrick) of Millerton, NB; Melissa Leblanc (Jason) of Millerton, NB; Son: Malcolm Sturgeon (Courtney)of White Rapids, NB; Brother: Bentley Sturgeon (Twila) of Gray Rapids, NB; Four grandchildren: Ruby Black, Ivy and Everly Leblanc and Nova Sturgeon; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Sturgeon Sr., Sister, Sheena Sturgeon and two brothers, Kenneth Sturgeon and Fearon Sturgeon.

Mr. Irving Sturgeon is resting at Davidson’s Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, Miramichi, on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. A funeral will take place at Davidson’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 11 am with Pastor John Stewart and Father Laskey officiating.

The Sturgeon family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Miramichi Hospital and at the Dr Losier Hall, for the kindness and care that Irving received during his time there.

In Irving’s memory, donations to Hospice Miramichi or Alzheimer’s Society, would be appreciated by the family.
