It is with heavy hearts the family of Una J. (MacKenzie) Shand RN, announce her passing at her late residence in Brampton, ON, at the age of 95. Una graduated from Tabusintac High School in 1946, one of the largest graduating classes and went on to pursue a Career in Nursing, graduating from Hotel Dieu Campbellton.
Una loved her family, her Nursing Career and Travel. At one time she combined Nursing and travel while employed in Florida, Texas and Whitehorse, before returning to East General in Toronto until she retired. She enjoyed extended travels to Russia, Africa, England, Scotland, Ireland and Israel and participated in a “Dig” while in Israel.
Una is survived by her sister Carolyn (Sam) Shirley, many nieces and nephews and her special care giver Niece Patricia McNeil and her son Agostino.
Una is predeceased by her parents, John and Bessie MacKenzie, Sister Ada, Brothers Marty, Merlin, and Lorne.
Funeral will be held Tuesday Nov. 22, 2022 at 3 o’clock from Saint Andrews United in Tabusintac with Rev Jean Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 2 pm to 2:45 pm.
Memorial Donations may be made to Tabusintac Nursing Home or charity of one’s choice.
