With his loving family by his side it is with immense sadness and heartbreak that we announce our dad (Gerard Patrick Kingston) passed peacefully at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 80.

Gerry was a loader operator for over 40 years and worked with several construction companies across the province with the last being Goodfellow’s Trucking Ltd where he retired. There wasn’t a thing he didn’t know about building roads and doing pipe work and hardly missed a day’s work in all his career.

Dad loved playing cards and enjoyed several different games but his favourite being euchre where he always sat down to win. He also loved playing bingo and he and Mom could be found at numerous bingo halls around the Miramichi area.

He also loved telling stories of long ago, listening to fiddle music, four wheeling with his boys and touring around the settlement dropping in on a few buddies to have a quick “say”. His pride and joy were his 8 grandchildren and his face lit up around each and every one of them.

Unfortunately, Dad’s health started declining in the past two years due to kidney failure.

A huge thank you to all the wonderful Doctors and Nurses who were so compassionate and caring during Dad’s illness. A special thank you to the Miramichi Dialysis Team who always went above and beyond, he loved you all.

He was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Sevogle. At his request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Donations can be made to the Saint James Cemetery Fund.

Our family would also like to send special thanks to everyone who called, sent messages, visited, dropped off food and cards. Your kindness and thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
